Instruments other than brass may be used, but the ensemble should be primarily brass instruments. Standard trio instrumentation is trumpet, horn, trombone: quartet is 2 trumpets, trombone/horn, trombone/bass bone/tuba. Qualifying works include unpublished or self-published music, new compositions, and revised compositions. Substantially revised compositions previously submitted to the IBCMF are acceptable. Works that are commercially recorded/distributed do not qualify. All forms such as suites, sonata, one-movement multi-sectional works, theme and variations, etc. are welcome. Entries should be submitted with a full score, performance parts, and a recording of the work (midi/electronic recordings are acceptable). Composers attending the IBCMF will have their works performed at this event and have the opportunity to interact with other performers and composers at IBCMF events. To secure this opportunity you must complete registration for the IBCMF by August 25, 2009. Works with unusual instrumentation may require additional collaboration/coordination by the entering composer.
Deadline: Works should be received no later than August 25, 2009.
